Flexible Configuration

StrataExplorer has been designed to provide the user with the maximum amount of flexibility on how to configure the application for their company.

Optional Extension Modules

The application is composed of a base application and optional extension modules. Although each user within a company requires access to the base application they do not necessarily need access to the optional extension modules. For example, you may need several technologists to be able to create and edit boring and well logs but only a couple of geologists to be able to create cross-sections and maps. In this case you could purchase several copies of the boring and well log module and only a couple of copies of the cross-section and mapping modules.

Single User or Network

StrataExplorer can be deployed on an individual computer basis or through a network server. If you wish to have it only available on a few computers in your organization then the single user approach is appropriate. However, if you would like to provide access to the program to a lot of people in your organization then the network approach is better. The program can also operate across a WAN or VPN so that several offices can share access to the application.

Oracle or Access

There currently are two database formats supported by the application, Oracle or Microsoft Access. For smaller organizations or where the data will reside on many different computers, Microsoft Access is a low cost efficient database format. In situations where the data is to reside on one large central server, Oracle can provide a more efficient and easier to maintain database format.
