Saves
Time and Money
StrataExplorer can save
you both time and money by helping you to perform tasks
efficiently and minimizing the amount of data entry.
Create high quality
site maps,
boring and well logs,
cross-sections, and
contour maps effortlessly. Detailed
descriptions of how to perform these tasks are described
in the links below.
Site Maps
High quality site plans
are a requirement of many projects. StrataExplorer can
save you hours of drafting time typically used to create
these site plans. Using the ArcEngine technology
embedded in StrataExplorer a wide variety of GIS data
can be easily added to a project or basemap. If the GIS
data is added to the basemap it will show up for all
projects making it quicker and easier to create site
plans.

In addition, the online
interface to DigitalGlobe can be used to easily download
satellite image of the project area to use in the site
plan. The display of the satellite image on the site
plan can be easily turned on and off.

Page Layouts
in StrataExplorer can be used to embellish the site plan
with additional features such as North arrows, grids,
legends, title blocks, and scale bars.

Boring and Well Logs
Most projects contain a
large number of boring and/or well logs that must be
produced in high quality consistent formats.
StrataExplorer can produce these logs very quickly and
consistently saving you time and money.
To make the logs in a consistent format, templates are
used to format the logs. These templates can be easily
edited in StrataExplorer to achieve any format required.
By using only a few templates for a project, a
consistent appearance is given to the logs.
Compared to alternatives methods such as AutoCAD, Excel,
CorelDraw, and other competing products, StrataExplorer
can save anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes per log.

Based upon these time
savings a simple cost benefit analysis can be prepared.
This analysis shows the number of logs you need to
create before the cost savings from StrataExplorer equal
the cost of the program.

The breakeven analysis above
is based on purchasing the StrataExplorer base
application and boring/well log module for $1990 US.
This price would be reduced if the base application has
already been purchased or it is an upgrade to WinLoG
version 4.
Cross-sections
Since all of the data in a
project is available to all the modules, cross-sections
can be easily created using previously entered data.
StrataExplorer has built in artificial intelligence to
generate the strata between boreholes, wells and
intersecting cross-sections. The automatic generation of
strata can save you both time and money.
When determining how to create the strata the program
looks at similarities in the lithologies, thickness, and
occurrence of the strata in borings, wells, intersecting
cross-sections and contour maps. This methodology works
well with most geologies; except, where the geology is
very complicated or there are faults. The cross-sections
below were automatically generated by the program.

Contour Maps
The boring, well, and
cross-section data already entered into StrataExplorer
can be easily gridded and contoured by the program.
Since all data is shared by all the modules there is no
need to re-enter the data, it can be automatically
extracted and added to a contour map. Stratigraphic data
from wells and borings can be gridded and contoured in
minutes. Below are some examples of contour maps that
only took minutes to create.

After the contour map has
been created in can be easily overlain on the project
map or added to a page layout for final output. |
